Argonne National Laboratory has developed a Web-based Drilling Waste Management System (DWMIS) for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory. In addition to interactive technology description and identification components, DWMIS features a regulatory module. Drilling waste management practices are subject to all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. The regulatory module of DWMIS is designed to offer a first resource window through (1) providing contact information for state and federal regulatory agencies, including names, addresses, and telephone numbers; (2) offering capsule summaries of state and federal regulations; and (3) referring the reader to agency homepages and the texts of the regulations via Web hyperlinks. This presentation, a companion to Innovative and Interactive Drilling Waste Management Information System (John A. Veil et al.), describes the process of assembling, distilling, and presenting the information condensed into the regulatory module, along with challenges encountered in the process. The overview will include examples and screenshots.
