Faces of IPEC: Steve Hall, Project Operations Manager

     Steve Hall is the IPEC Project Operations Manager. He has been active in this position at the University of Tulsa since the inception of the consortium. He assists the IPEC Director in the overall activities of the consortium and is involved in interaction with the U.S. EPA, funding source for IPEC, the University of Tulsa Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and the other academic institutions that make up the consortium - The University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Arkansas. He serves as a resource and reference contact for the members of the IPEC Executive Committee, Industrial Advisory Board, and Science Advisory Committee concerning consortium operational matters and coordinates solicitation, review, and approval for technology development projects funded by IPEC. He is responsible for organizing and monitoring reporting systems for these projects for the IPEC website. In addition, he is responsible for generating and maintaining internal fiscal records, files, and reports for the consortium and for directing IPEC organizational efforts pertaining to the yearly International Petroleum Environmental Conference, which draws an average of 340 participants each year. He also acts as liaison between IPEC and the University of Tulsa Continuing Engineering and Science Education office concerning promotional efforts and on-site preparations and management of the conference each year.
     Steve is a 1974 graduate of Oklahoma State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Prior to and after returning from active duty with the U.S. Army in early 1970, Steve was employed through 1982 with a major regional firm managing retail units with average inventories of 1.5 million dollars. During the balance of the 1980's and early 1990's, he was employed as the marketing manager for a company specializing in oil and gas industry educational programs, served as an officer of an independent insurance agency, and was associated with PennWell Publications' International Petroleum Encyclopedia production unit.
